چکیده

in this study, the effect of salicylic acid (sa) on root knot nematode (meloidogyne javanica) pathogenicity and induction of some defense mechanisms such as polyphenol oxidase enzyme activity and total phenol accumulation were investigated in greenhouse conditions. we demonstrated that application of 5mm salicylic acid through foliar spray could induce resistance against m. javanica in tomato. polyphenol oxidase activity and levels of phenol compounds were determined on 1 to 8 days after inoculation. salicylic acid caused increasing polyphenol oxidase activity that reached maximum level 4 days after nematode inoculation. the highest level of phenolic compounds was observed 4 days after salicylic acid and nematode inoculation. also, application of salicylic acid could decrease the severity of disease in greenhouse. in iddition, in vitro assay showed that salicylic acid increased the death percentage of second stage juvenile (j2). the results showed the induced resistance observed in tomato against m. javanica via application of salicylic acid, because sa increased the activity of polyphenol oxidase and levels of phenol compounds.

induction of resistance in tomato against root-knot nematode meloidogyne javanica with salicylic acid

the effect of salicylic acid (sa) on induction of resistance against root-knot nematode (meloidogyne javanica) and the effect of m. javanica to induce biochemical defense responses in tomato (solanum lycopersicum l.) roots at six-leaf stage were investigated. meanwhile, the effect of different concentrations of sa on mortality of second stage juveniles of m. javanica was examined. changes in th...

Role of Salicylic Acid in Tomato Defense against Cotton Bollworm, Helicoverpa

We investigated the role of the salicylic acid (SA) signaling pathway in defense responses of tomato plants to the herbivore, cotton bollworm. After exposure to the cotton bollworm, tomato leaves rapidly accumulated a high level of SA. The transcription of PR1 and BGL2 genes, the marker genes of SA pathway, was up-regulated. An enhanced endogenous SA level was accompanied by an increase in the ...

Interaction of Meloidogyne hapla and M. javanica Infecting Tomato.

A soil temperature of 20 C was equally suitable for the invasion and development of M. hapla and M. javanica. However, M. javanica predominated in a mixed species infection at this temperature. Predominance increased with increasing mixed-species inoculum levels. Invasion by M. hapla was more density-dependent than M. javanica. M. hapla produced a greater incidence of terminal galls and lateral...

The Effects of Soil Salinity and Meloidogyne javanica on Tomato.

A non-sodic, non-saline sandy loam soil was salinized to anion-cation ratios similar to those naturally occurring in Iraq and California. The interactions of saline soils (conductivities 4, 8, 12 and 16 mmhos/cm) with a moderately salt-tolerant plant (Lycopersicon esculentum 'Marimond') and a plant parasitic nematode (Meloidogyne javanica) were investigated. Plant parasitic nematodes were shown...

elicitation of defense responses in tomato against meloidogyne javanica and fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici wilt complex

in this study, trichoderma harzianum bi was evaluated for its capability to reduce the incidence and severity of the root-knot nematode, meloidogyne javanica, and fusarium wilt, f. oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici, as causal agents of a complex disease of tomato in the laboratory and greenhouse conditions. initial in vitro studies revealed that the parasitism of m. javanica eggs by t. harzianum bi ...
